Backstory
For generations, Kutch in the North Western part of India has been home to nomadic communities with a rich economic and cultural tapestry. Migration brought the distinctive elements of craft traditions from Sindh and Northern India to Kutch.
The women from the Mutwa community are known for their rich embroidery.  They have over 25 embroidery types in their regional local styles.  We have incorporated around 8 distinctive styles through these single edition quilts for you.
The village of Lifri in Kutch, Gujarat  is located in the Nakhatrana taluka. With its district headquarters in Bhuj, the women of this village are from the Mutwa community . It was fascinating for us to make our base patchwork travel to them for the surface embroidery. The women worked on these quilts for hours, amidst their domestic chores.
We view them as collector’s editions with a rich history. We  love how layers of history and culture , along with artisan skills are embedded in our work , which travels miles to you,due to the purchase you make from us.
