Front – Handblock print natural dyed Ajrakh / Handwoven Dhonekhali stripes
Reverse – Handwoven indigo – gold checks / washed gold in aqua
An unusual pairing with our handblock printed Ajrakh with rani pink Dhonekhali cotton stripes , from the Dhonekhali cluster in West Bengal. Known for their fine handloom cottons, these sarees are most often used by women of the house for wearing inside the house. They become soft as muslin when washed and crisp when starched.
These khaatas use handmade paper inside which is made of left-over fabric bits of cotton 'ganjee' hosiery which is mixed with jute fibre . This mix is made into a wet pulp and passed through a flat frame. The excess water is drained off and the paper pulp settles down. After drying, this turns into paper.
Handmade with love so that we do not lose the touch of the hand.
