Fabric used:
Front – Handwoven washed gold mangalgiri in a light aqua shade / Benarasi handwoven buti
Reverse – Handwoven cotton kalamkari / South cotton stripes

This is an unusual combination; washed gold mangalgiri paired with subtle weave of an amber benarasi . The reverse is a handblock kalamkari. The term 'kalamkari' is an ancient style of hand panting done on cotton or silk fabric with a pen made of tamarind wood, using natural dyes. It is derived from a Persian word where 'kalam' means pen and 'kari' refers to craftsmanship. We use our hand-block printed kalamkari fabrics on our jacket linings and inners. We first used them in our 'Safed Rang' collection in 2012.

These khaatas use handmade paper which is made of left-over fabric bits of cotton 'ganjee' hosiery which is mixed with jute fibre. This mix is made into a wet pulp and passed through a flat frame. The excess water is drained off and the paper pulp settles down. After drying, this turns into paper.

Handmade with love so that we do not lose the touch of the hand.
