Baluchari Jhola tote
This Baluchari Jhola tote is a single edition tote bag in cotton tassar and woven with a panel of figurative motif characteristic of the Baluchari sarees from Murshidarbad in West Bengal.
In a shade of neutral beige, this tote uses an interlining of foam and delicate quilting in checks. The lining inside is in a dyed thick cotton in a contrast shade of mint green.

About Baluchari designs :
The sarees that are called Baluchari, have been originally woven in the Murshidabad region of West Bengal. Using the traditional jala looms, priot to weaving these looms required an elaborate and intricate set-up. The original motifs used, had immense socio-cultural significance, as they were first commisioned by the first Nawab of Bengal and contained courtly scenes of revelry.
Baluchari sarees have been granted the status of geographical indication (GI) of India.
