What is Kala cotton ?
Kala cotton is indigenous to the Kutch region in Gujarat. This cotton grows in the drought prone areas and is organic by nature since the farmers do not use pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. It is purely a rain fed crop that has a high tolerance for both disease and pests. It is both resilient and resurgent in the face of stressful land conditions. Kala cotton is the oldest form of cotton known to us.
